AN END TO SUMMER

As imperceptibly as grief
The summer lapsed away, --
Too imperceptible, at last,
To seem like perfidy.

A quietness distilled,
As twilight long begun,
Or Nature, spending with herself
Sequestered afternoon.

The dusk drew earlier in,
The morning foreign shone, --
A courteous, yet harrowing grace,
As guest who would be gone.

And thus, without a wing,
Or service of a keel,
Our summer made her light escape
Into the beautiful.





I can't believe how long it is since I last made any contribution to this virtual arena (such as they are - the contributions I mean!!) Summer is slowly creeping to an end and I for one am quite looking forward to cooler days and longer nights.



I have had a wonderful holiday on the Isle of Tiree, which has inspired me to put up a few photographs of my visit to this beautiful place. I suddenly realise how much I need a better camera, with a better zoom lens. I will hopefully, be getting this around my birthday, which is not until December!!

As I am on holiday at the moment - I work in a school - I have gone through some of my old stuff and processed some of these too, mostly flowers - I hope you like them?
